Petcube Play is a sleek looking device that connects to your phone via the PetCube App. The purpose of this product is for you to be able to see your pets through video and talk to them through the device when you are away. It has a one way video and two way audio functionality. PetCube costs around $150. One of the product’s primary attractions is its pet friendly laser functionality which serves to exercise pets when you are away. When you want it to, it will go to autoplay mode and the laser will move around. This will give your pet plenty of exercise.

Features

Petcube records in 1080P and additionally features a night vision mode. It is a very good looking pet camera and features a possibility of up to three times zoom. The product features two way audio so you can hear what is happening on your pet’s end as well. However, it is one way video – basically you can see your pet, but they cannot see you.

Product Comparisons

A big feature PetCube lacks compared to most of its competitors is the ability to dispense treats to your pet. PetCube is therefore on the cheaper end compared to other products in this field on the market.  A similar product on the market that is actually priced quite closely to PetCube’s price point is Petzi. Petzi however only has a one way video and one way audio function. Petzi does, however, have the ability to dispense treats at your will. So  if you want to stick at this price point, then whether you go with Petzi or the PetCube Play depends a bit on which of these features – dispensing treats to your pets or having them hear you – is more important to you.

The other big plus for PetCube is the ability to exercise your dog when you are away – that’s a big one!

The Bottom Line

I would give  this product 4/5 stars. Not only is it exceedingly affordable, but it also streams in tremendously high quality. Although it is lacking the ability to dispense treats, I feel like that is not a make or break factor. I can see though, why some are frustrated by its lack of ability on that front. Some say that it involved a thorough setup, but for all the positives I think the time-intensive setup is well worth it. The product also appears quite nicely especially compared to some of its competitors.
