Features
With a 1 mile range, this is the perfect device for training your dog indoors. There is a built in BarkLimiter™ operated on the dog device to ensure that he doesn’t cause an uproar in your house. One of the cool high-tech features of this product is that it can adjust the level of correction applied so as to be just enough to stop your dog from barking needlessly. There are also LED beacon lights, built-in to the dog device, to help locate your dog in low light conditions.
Product Comparisons
Though Garmin Tri-Tronics Pro 550 is a bit pricey, it certainly brings more to the table than Mini Educator E-Collar ET-300ZEN—that product is also designed to be used in places like parks, backyards, and homes, but only has a ½ mile range capability.
The Garmin Pro 70 is another product with a 1 mile range. The Pro 70 is expandable to train up to 6 dogs, rather than the 3 that the Pro 550 can be used for. However, the Garmin Pro 70 only has 6 levels of continuous stimulation, as opposed to the 21 levels of momentary and continuous stimulation on the Pro 550.
Customer Reviews
On Amazon, the Garmin Tri-Tronics Pro 550 received an average of 3.9 stars from 19 reviewers. Positive reviews praised the BarkLimiter™ and the remote’s design. One reviewer wrote that it gets a dog to pay attention and learn quickly. Some negative reviewers complained that the collar was “cheap and flimsy” and that the remote had “battery issues”. A negative reviewer wrote that the remote is too big to conveniently fit in a pocket.
The Bottom Line
This is a good product to train your dog at the places that he goes to everyday. It’s palm fit design makes it easy to use and you can comfortably train more than one dog with the device. It’s a little pricey and you will probably be able to find a similar device that’s cheaper on Amazon—but for a 1 mile dog trainer, it’s not bad at all.
